Jack Petchey
Our Jack Petchey Award Winner for the Autumn Term was Eva-Rose Gowers
Eva Rose has moved into the Company as an Apprentice this term and has given it her all - as we expected she would.
The Jack Petchey Award was nominated by her peers, who have obviously acknowledged Eva Rose’s hard work and her contribution to EDT.
However, most importantly, every person who nominated Eva Rose mentioned her kindness to them.

Quite an accolade we think!

Awards & Performance
Prisha Narayan - Summer 2022 (2)

Prisha is a student who quietly beavers away – making improvement as she goes. She is self-motivated and is maturing in confidence

Prisha is enthusiastic and reliable and is an asset to our Company.

Despite finding that Tap does not come as easily to her as other styles Prisha has used her quiet determination to make great improvements.

Prisha is a kind, member of her peer group and we enjoy having her as part of the student teaching team on Saturdays when she is extremely encouraging to our younger students. Well done Prisha!

Molly Williamson - Summer 2020 (1)

Molly has been a member of EDT since an early age!

Molly is a hard worker. She is positive, enthusiastic and brings a sense of style and performance to all her sessions.

Molly thrives on corrections and does her best to respond to advice given - even when it is something which stretches her physical limits.

Molly is a friendly, popular member of her group and is always found offering encouragement to those around her.

Keep it up Molly!

Jack Petchey Award Winner Autumn Term 2021 - Alyanah Maina

Alyanah has a bright bubbly personality and brings light and humour to classes. However in the past couple of terms Alyanah has shown a real maturity emerging in all of her classes at EDT, especially in Company Rehearsals.

Alyanah has joined the team of Student Teachers on Saturdays and demonstrates a real hands-on, independent approach with our youngest dancers.

It is lovely witnessing such a huge leap in Alyanah’s progress both as a dancer and young person.

The award was nominated by her peers, who have obviously acknowledged Alyanah’s achievements and contribution to EDT.

Jack Petchey Winner Summer 2021 - Amber Shanley

Amber has made a fantastic start back at EDT following Lockdown.

Amber started at EDT later than most children and joined the Grade 2 Classes. She has worked extremely hard to become a confident Grade 3 Student in all genres.

Amber is a highly committed member of EDT and works to her absolute limits. She will have a go at anything asked of her and is always willing to help the younger students in her group.

Amber’s positive attitude is infectious, which is a benefit to all of those who dance with her.

Well done Amber. We look forward to seeing your progress.

Jack Petchey Winner Spring 2021 - Robyn Spurling

Robyn is an outstanding young person who has been with EDT since a very tender age. She is a highly committed member of EDT and works so hard in her own classes and is a valued Company Member.

Robyn has also recently started volunteering her time - as a Student Teacher. Robyn is a very popular and respected member of the group

Her performance quality and amazing memory are outstanding and she brings these assets to all aspects of her training.

Jack Petchey Winner Autumn 2020

Niamh Eldridge
Niamh has been a long-serving member at EDT Brentwood. She is a hard-working, thinking dancer who has grown in confidence. She would merit a JP Award for this in itself.
However it has been a delight this term to see Niamh taking the role of a leader and demonstrator in Teen Ballet.
Niamh has taken one of our new SEN students under her wing and is helping this teenage dancer as a volunteer supporter in class. Niamh’s manner in guiding this student is commendable.
Time is a precious commodity and Niamh is giving hers freely to benefit someone else.

***Company Member***

Alyssa is a highly committed member of EDT and contributes enormously in her own classes, as a Company Member & also as a volunteer Student Teacher.

Alyssa is a mature, self-motivated and very friendly member of EDT and has a constructive influence on group dynamics in class.

Alyssa responds extremely well to corrections and has high expectations of herself which means she achieves the best possible results.

Alyssa obviously worked really hard at home independently in lockdown and came back to dancingin great shape.

We are extremely fortunate to be supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation which allows us to recognise the efforts of our young people. We cannot thank the Foundation enough for allowing us to run this scheme. The winners' Award money is used to fund extra activities, invite visiting choreographers or to purchase items for our group which would not be possible without the Jack Petchey support. This year the Award Winners have chosen to invite visiting choreographers and provide new costumes for our performances.
Our most recent Jack Petchey Winner in Autumn 2019 was Gemma Johnston
